Step up once again! Wednesday, National Rifle Association (NRA) Board of Directors voted to get back into the political arena.

On the show today, Tarrell Guy, NRA Political Director; Sr. Deputy Press Secretary for Hillary Clinton from 2015 to 2016, Tony Perkins, head of the Family Research Council and Michael Steele, former RNC Chairman talked about the benefits of an American political agenda in the world today.

Guy also discussed the enhanced Presidential Advisory Commission on School Safety and their goal of studying how schools handle guns. While this measure is not unprecedented, President Trump chose NRA board member Carl Higbie as the chair of the commission to represent him on it.

Perkins explained why getting back into the political arena is a good move for the NRA. As he puts it “if we’re not in this game, other people are going to move into our place…Not very long ago, it was a four-man game, a two-man game.”

Steele compared the decision to get back into the political arena to “keeping your old car in the garage to see if it can run.” Steele explains this frame of mind is essentially “you’re constantly trying to get back up on the ladder of all the responsibilities that get us to where we want to go.”
