New R train route for Staten Island Rail users

The New York City Transit Authority announced on Wednesday a number of new ways for customers to ease the R train transfer at various stations:

Beginning on December 18, customers can take the Easy Rider, the M.T.A. Subway Express Slide, or the Slip n Slide and stow their belongings in those stations. Customers will not be charged a fee to use those routes.

The agency also announced that beginning on February 15th, customers will be able to take free trains on the AT&T AT stations in Brooklyn, both buses along the L line (including the Flatbush Extension, which is to be rerouted), the J and Z bus services in Brooklyn, and the F bus routes in Brooklyn from the Fashion District stop to Bedford Avenue. This service will be available to riders traveling in the morning and evening, Monday through Friday.

Finally, from January 7th through the 19th, the J, Z, and W bus services along the R line in Brooklyn will free transfer customers between trains at stops located at Brownsville and Stuyvesant Town. Customers will be charged if they do not transfer.
